Matt Segar, MD, is a board-certified cardiologist and cardiac electrophysiology fellow at the Texas Heart Institute. Dr. Segar obtained his MD from the Indiana University School of Medicine, where he served as president of the medical student council. Previously, he earned his MS degree in bioinformatics from Indiana University Indianapolis. Dr. Segar completed his internal medicine residency at UT Southwestern in 2021.
During his career thus far, Dr. Segar has conducted extensive research to explore how AI and machine learning could improve cardiovascular risk prediction and inform therapeutic approaches in treating heart failure. The American Heart Association declared him the winner of both the Sam Levine Young Investigator Award and the Heart Failure Data Challenge in 2022.
